A subdomain is a website url, that is under a main, or a root domain name. An illustration is something.domain.com, where domain.com is the main domain, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every single subdomain can have its own website and records i.e. aside from using the domain name as a part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be completely independent and even hosted by a different company. Employing a subdomain can be quite beneficial if you wish to have different web sites that are connected in some way. As an example, you can have a web-based store under the main domain and a forum under a subdomain so as to provide means for your customers to ask questions and share opinions about your products. The best thing about using a subdomain as opposed to a subfolder is that the sites are going to be separated, so you are able to update one of them or perform maintenance without affecting the other.

Subdomains in Web Hosting

Our web hosting packages will enable you to set up countless subdomains for every domain hosted within your account without any problem. As long as the main domain name is added, it takes two mouse clicks to create a subdomain and choose what folder it's going to open (if different from the default one), set customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for effortless access and management. By right-clicking on any one of them and by using quick access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that particular subdomain. We haven't set a restriction for the amount of subdomains you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you wish.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

Through our semi-dedicated server plans, you will be able to create an unlimited amount of subdomains for any one of the domains that you add as hosted in the account. It will take a couple of clicks to set up a new subdomain and during the process you are going to be able to add custom error pages for it, decide if it will use a shared or a dedicated IP address, change the default folder that it'll access or activate FrontPage Extensions. All subdomains you have within the account are going to be grouped under their root domain in alphabetical order and you will be able to see and manage them with ease. By using instant access buttons and right-click menus you will also be able to jump to the site files within the File Manager section or view logs, visitor stats and other information about any one of your subdomains.
