According to the policies adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the contact info a domain name is registered with must be correct and accurate all the time. In addition, this info is openly available on WHOIS websites and while this may not be a problem for corporations, it may not be very convenient for individuals, since anyone can see their names and their personal email and home addresses, all the more so in an age when identity theft is not that uncommon. For this reason, domain name registrars have introduced a service that conceals the details of their customers without altering them. The service is referred to as Whois Privacy Protection. If it’s activated, people will view the details of the domain registrar, not the domain owner’s, if they perform a WHOIS lookup. The Whois Privacy Protection service is supported by all generic top-level domain name extensions, but it is still impossible to hide your private info with some country-code ones.

Whois Privacy Protection in Web Hosting

If you get a web hosting package from us, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domain names on the condition that their extensions support this service. You can register/transfer a domain and enable Whois Privacy Protection during the registration procedure or you can enable the service for any of your domain names at any time later via the Hepsia hosting Control Panel. The process is surprisingly easy – once you sign in, you’ll have to go to the Registered Domains section where you will notice a list of all the domain names that you’ve registered with us. For each of them you’ll notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” logo, which will let you know if the service is active or not. By clicking it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain name, or you can deactivate the service if it is currently active.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you register a domain under it, you can enable our Whois Privacy Protection service effortlessly. This requires just a few clicks of the mouse in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, through which you manage everything associated with your account. This is the place where you can see all your active domains and for each of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” icon, using which you can activate, renew or remove the Whois Privacy Protection service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-code top-level domain name extensions that support this option and you’ll be able to see this beforehand, so that you won’t end up purchasing a service that we cannot provide.
